Fashion experts from the UK edition of American fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar have crowned the Duchess of Cambridge as the best-dressed woman of Britain in 2011. The judges were told to choose 20 women who represented British style and Kate(fashion model and actress) headed the list that included Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine, actresses Andrea Riseborough, Keira Knightley and Tilda Swinton, model Kate Moss, Prime Minister David Cameron’s wife Samantha and fashion designer Stella McCartney.
“Catherine’s incredible style evolution has gripped us all,” the panel of judges said. A Global Language Monitor survey in August had said that London had overtaken New York as the world’s fashion capital for 2011 and the Will-Kate royal wedding had a big role to play in this.
“She gave us the year’s, if not the century’s, most thrilling fashion moment,” said Lucy Yeomans, editor of the Harper’s Bazaar.
Kate Bosworth, Dianna Agron, Olivia Wilde, Riley Keough, and many more attended this year's Vogue CFDA Fashion Fund Show and Tea. The event, hosted by celebrity hairstylist Frederic Fekkai and Lisa Love, took place at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.
Kate, who sat front and center, as this year's CFDA finalists showcased their creations, wore head-to-toe Proenza Schouler. It was the usual mix-and-match look from Kate as she wore a yellow, midriff-baring top with zebra print, and a belted, brown wrap skirt. The best parts of Kate's look were her updo and make-up.
Glee star Dianna Agron, like Kate Bosworth, went for something printed for the event. Dianna looked lovely in the black-and-white textured dress from Libertine. The sleeveless number had bold, black trim, and quite a revealing neckline. Black pumps and a fabulous wavy bob completed Dianna's outfit.
Other standouts at the Vogue CFDA Fashion Fund Show were Olivia Wilde, who topped her floaty, pink dress with a red coat, Michelle Monaghan in a body-con Altuzarra color-block skirt, and Busy Phillips in a mint green number.

Louise Roe says British women are effortlessly chic.
The stylist-turned-designer moved to Los Angeles from her native Britain and although she admires the style of celebrities there including Nicole Richie, she admitted there are days when she longs for the laid back vibe of the UK.
She said: "I think people dress in brighter colours in LA, probably because of the weather. There's a big boho vibe over there too, like Nicole Richie, which I love. But the way Brit girls chuck on a long jumper and skinny jeans is so effortless and chic. London definitely does scruffy and grunge a lot better."
Louise appeared in 'The City' alongside Olivia Palermo and Whitney Port and while she was "more excited than nervous" about the reality TV show, she admits she took extra precautions over her fashion choices on shooting days.
The 'Plain Jane' presenter exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "Luckily they filmed me attending fashion week and interviewing designers, which is something and do for a living and so am really comfortable being filmed doing. Yes I definitely took more time preparing my outfits! But I stuck to my own style though, I wore the same kind of look I always go for: bright, 70s, and always a high heel!"
Louise Roe is fronting the second series of 'Plain Jane' on 19 October MTV at 8pm. She has also designed a range of accessories for online site Stylistpick available from 17 October.
Curvy Holly Willoughby has said that she loves the old-fashioned glamour of Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe(actress, singer, fashion model). And that's what she is trying to achieve with her new collection for online fashion store Very. The This Morning presenter appears in a new TV advert, modelling a dress from her autumn/winter line.
She can be seen serving canapes in a room full of her friends, who clink their glasses together, as she says: 'It's all about art deco this season. Bring on the Hollywood glamour.' The mother-of-two then models in front of a mirror, showing off the white maxi-dress with embellishments on the shoulders, and a pair of satin heels.
Holly says: 'Nobody's missed this headturner, or these satin sparklers, and this gathered waistband hides a multitude of sins.' On Very's website she admits: 'I turned up the glam factor a bit for autumn. It's never too early to start thinking about parties.' The label says Holly 'wanted to design pieces that will make every woman feel glamorous and feminine, just like her signature style. 'A girl who doesn't like to slavishly follow fashion trends, this collection uses classic shapes that will really flatter your figure.' Size 12 Holly, who gave birth to Belle in April, said previously that she wasn't concerned about losing her baby weight in a hurry.
Following the birth of her son Harry in 2009, she said: 'Even before I had Harry I was never that skinny, so I'm not worried about it.' 'I've loved seeing the changes in my shape. From the moment I found out I was pregnant, I couldn't wait to be huge.' Although last week she was envying another Jodie Marsh's new bodybuilding figure.
She tweeted: 'Morning. Just seen Jodie marsh, she on in just a moment! How has that happened in 8 weeks?! X'

Emma Watson and Kristen Stewart share something in common– both are under pressure to ramp up their games in Hollywood now that their “Twilight” and “Harry Potter” franchises are over. Like Kristen, who appears in the UK edition of GQ, Emma covers the UK and French editions of Elle, and she talks candidly about the need for her to have a certain look. The 21-year-old actress said she does worry about expectations of her as an actress and finds Hollywood “quite scary” for that reason. Emma Watson covers Elle magazines in England and France.
And, no wonder; plastic surgery is a land office business even among Young Hollywood starlets. “I don’t have perfect teeth, I’m not stick thin,” she tells the magazine. “I want to be the person who feels great in her body and can say that she loves it and doesn’t want to change anything.”Still, Watson felt a need to break free from her Harry Potter image and dramatically cropped her hair after filming was done on the last movie.
The move stunned her fans, but sent a clear message. She is determined to make a statement in her own way. “It’s ridiculous that [loving the way you look] seems such an unrealistic goal,” she says.
“I think the actresses who are really successful are the ones who are comfortable in their own skin and still look human.”
This is a big year for Watson, because she has two post-Harry Potter films coming out. She plays a supporting role in “My Week With Marilyn,” which stars Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe and Kenneth Branagh as Sir Laurence Olivier. But the pressure will really be on for her second movie, “The Perks Of Being A Wallflower,” because she has a starring role.
Being associated with a blockbuster like “Harry Potter” is no guarantee of success in other films, as “Twilight” stars Stewart and boyfriend Robert Pattinson are finding out. Both Watson and Stewart have glammed up their image through magazine photo spreads, and both have shown that they have matured into sultry women.
Chanel, Gianni Versace and Alexander McQueen are just a few of the designers featured at the “FABULOUS!: 10 Years of FIDM Museum Acquisitions, 2000-2010” at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) Museum and Galleries in downtown Los Angeles.
Showcasing over 200 years of fashion, anyone with a thirst for style or appreciation of the art will bare witness to the iconic wardrobe pieces dating back to the 1800s.
“These are really, really rare objects and they are not displayed very often because they are so delicate,” said Kevin Jones, FIDM Museum curator.
Upon entering the dimly lit gallery, black ceilings dotted with small track lights and matching walls lined with glass-encased artifacts; 38 mannequins are displayed among three seemingly floating silver platforms.
The first of three platforms display an eclectic compilation of styles from the modern era. Soft classical music compliments the cold, contemporary atmosphere. Gowns for every occasion, evening coats, leather pants and even a $1,000 priced rhinestone swimsuit from 1955 are brought together from all around the world. Without question, Paris, Milan, London and New York dominate the scene.
Heading toward the back of the exhibit, the second platform features fashion styles from the 1800s and early 1900s. These mannequins adorned in head to toe couture, defined the fashion silhouette for women in the 1830s with bell-shaped dresses. Most wore bonnets or other head accessories, in addition to detailed broaches, jewelry and gloves.
The third section of the exhibit, hidden from the front of the gallery, is tucked away off to the left in back, featuring more unique 20th century pieces. Featured on a rotating platform is the famous Alexander McQueen evening dress, a cream silk and black lace strapless bodice and full skirt. Other items vary from a 1907 court gown and train to an evening tunic and headdress from 1913, these items reveal more modern fashion concepts for their time.
“This is my only extra day in L.A., so I went online looking for clothing exhibits and found a link to this (exhibit),” said Lisa Brumm, 43, from St. Paul, Minn. “The website featured the Alexander McQueen gown, and I figured if that was one example of what I’d see here, it would be worthwhile.”
Salacious undergarments ornament the walls behind this motif, with brassieres, bust enhancers and men’s “Personality (boxer) Shorts” with the phrase “Everything Grows Big in California” printed on them circa 1950.
All items on display are used for in-class instruction for students at FIDM and also fully illustrated in a 375-page catalog on sale at the museum shop, which is located right outside the exhibit. The catalog, “FABULOUS!,” features other historical fashion pieces not on display at FIDM, and will soon be turned into a textbook.
“The really great part about being in this school is we get access to all of these beautiful costumes and designers,” said Anna Ramirez, 25, a first-year merchandise and marketing major.
